One of my pool pals is long time from Italy. She spoke with her sister who lives there about this desire on the part of US "president" to bring along his ICE thugs to the winter olympics in Milan/Cortina. C told me that sister says everyone is outraged by this. What does the Olympics have to do with ICE? To quote one of the Miller acolytes, "He brandished it!"

Don't just abolish ICE. Abolish its parent, DHS - the whole thing.

It was carved out of INS post 9/11 as a performative "security" way to make us both afraid and more confident in the Bush Administration (it accomplished neither goal).

The very name of it, referring to the "Homeland" as if that's a word anyone ever used un-ironically to describe the US, still gives off creepy Third Reich vibes.
