Android 8 will no longer support Samsung Members

Samsung has recently posted a notice saying that they’re planning to abandon support for Android 8 on Samsung Members. Starting from July 1st, this application now requires at least Android 9 (One UI 1.x) if you want to continue using it. This is coming from a notice posted by Samsung regarding the operation of Samsung Members in Android 8 devices.

Samsung recommends that you update your phone to the latest and the greatest Android version, if possible. This is according to the updated service operation policy that will be in effect starting July 1st, 2025.

Today is my birthday 🎂 and finally got paid from my last work 💶 enough to grab myself a much needed new mobile device.

In the end, I went for the Nokia 6.1 from HMD. So far, really nice device, good build, comfortable weight and it comes with Android One. Released this year (2018) it comes with Android 8.0 "Oreo" and an update to 8.1 out-of-the-box.

Really enjoying the improvement overall 😊

Android Oreo is certainly interesting, but I find the marketing strategy behind it a lot more interesting. Android Oreo is going to be monolithic. More to come later today ;)
