I’ve had this ant plant since 2019. It produces icy blue flowers periodically.

#Myrmecophytes live in close association with ant colonies, providing shelter (and sometimes food) in exchange for defense. See the enlarged stem (caudex) with channels running through it in the last picture.

Small, light blue, six-pointed flower. The petals are fleshy and angular.

A top view of the flower more clearly shows its reproductive structures.

Enlarged stem (caudex) covered with spiky projections. Notice the numerous small holes on its surface; these are entrances to the network of channels running throughout the caudex. They form with or without ants. 🐜

At first i thought H. moseleyanum -
overlooking that the group might be two species in fact,
one with round leaves (H. moseleyanum?),
one with slimmer elongated leaves (H. formicarum?).
The fruit might shed light.

Although, although ... last picture shows both leaf forms on one plant?

I can hardly breathe! I won an auction for a Squamellaria kajewskii from Jay Vannini!! This is a species that has been at the top of my wants list for a long, looonnnnggg time. I paid a just ridiculous amount for it but, you know, that's why I work two jobs and share my living expenses with two other people.

Though it's not a hard #plant to grow (quite the contrary, it'll take over almost any space it occupies if not managed), it was a difficult plant to find so I am really happy to finally see my #Tetrastigma voinierianum putting out some new growth!
