I'm at the streaming data summit and Taylor Swift is the topic of the conversation.
What is Taylor Swift to us?
A traffic spike!

it's always bothered me that people call #Apachekafka a database but it's certainly not a cache either.
Maybe I have figured out how to explain this to folks:
Messaging Systems: This is takeout/takeaway. Data goes in & if not immediately picked up it gets discarded.
Kafka and things like #ApachePulsar: Restaurant. You don't immediately leave.
Database: You live here. There are mansions. There are condos. There are chateaus. Lots of different types but if you data doesn't live here not db
If there is something that is open source (as in an OSI-approved license) that we do not currently support, ask! One thing that has been on our radar for a while is #ApachePulsar. We are shocked people aren't asking for it.
Our target market are enterprises. I'm not going to tell you not to look at the page if you are a start-up, but you need to have significant capital.
If you want to talk about this not via ActivityPub, you can reach me at dwhitfield@perforce.com
We had a great @BeJUG event (full-house!) yesterday at Sweet Mustard in Kortrijk. Thanks, Loïc Mathieu and Julien Jakubowski 🥑 for the presentations about #Kestra and #ApachePulsar!
Next week @BeJUG in Kortrijk at #SweetMustard: "Lille invades Kortrijk: Kestra (Event Orchestrator) + Apache Pulsar (Messaging)" with @loicmathieu and Julien Jakubowski 🥑. There are still some places available. Register fast!
Loïc's Topic: #Kestra: an OpenSource #EventDriven Declarative #Orchestrator written in #Java
Julien's Topic: #ApachePulsar: Finally an Alternative to #kafka ?

Same as me. Slow as hell. Yeah, so parallel all the things, hey? I was wondering if there would be a way to just use some boxed generic algo that would pull all the data for me and loas balance all things. I’m looking at Kafka Connect or maybe Pulsar?
Curious to hear from folks, besides #apacheKafka, what are your favorite #streaming technologies? 🤔

Hello, #DataEngineering bubble!
I'm collecting some anecdotal evidence and *you* might be able to help me! 😉
For your data streaming needs, are you using #ApacheKafka (or Confluent)? Are you using #ApachePulsar? Are you using both or neither?
What’s new in #ApachePulsar v3.0?
Apache Pulsar v3.0 is a Long-Term Support (LTS) release with a few important features, enhancements, and fixes.

Had an exciting day at the job 😎🤠
Some fun Spring Security troubleshooting on the side (actually a colleague of mine did the hard work - I just attempted to help with ideas etc)👌🏼
Then also some camel route unit testing (without spring boot etc - vanilla Java and camel): lightening fast tests👌🏼
Then some Apache pulsar API exploration. Aim: enabling message analysis etc👌🏼
Hacked on some #ApacheCamel 🐪 #Java code today. Nice to focus on coding primarily most of the day (very little disturbance).
Spent a lot of time in the debugger. So I guess that was like meeting a good old friend 🤠
Integrating with #ApachePulsar via the camel provided component for that. Using OAuth.
Still enjoying all this hands on. Don’t miss the Lead Engineer days. It was for sure the right choice to become a Senior Engineer again 🤠👌🏼
Hi there. Save the date for the next #PulsarSummit EMEA, on May 23rd, 2023. If #ApachePulsar is your thing, this is a must event to be part of.
Also, if you have a good story about Pulsar, let me know if I can help you draft an abstract for the CfP.
Blogged "Scalable distributed system principles in the context of redesigning Apache Pulsar's metadata solution" https://codingthestreams.com/pulsar/2023/03/02/scalable-distributed-system-principles.html #ApachePulsar . I also quote Jonas Bonér’s "Think in Terms of Consistency Boundaries" advice which is essential in #distsys design.
Work: Currently building an #asyncapi specification for use in connecting our #java app with our #sap backend via an event broker…
Our #LEGO infrastructure domain experts then provides a service that can scaffold #ApachePulsar topics etc…
So at some point later we’ll connect #abap code on one side and #java on the other.
And then we’ll brag about having an *event driven* architecture!
(Currently sweating 😓 over naming conventions etc … so it’ll take a while 🙃)
