Conferences drain me like nothing else but boy are they fun, inspiring and utterly irreplaceable.
Thanks @andycroll for another great #BrightonRuby and @balticruby for my first #BalticRuby !

Why do we do Baltic Ruby?
Because we can’t not do it.
Because #Ruby is more than a language — it’s a mindset, a culture, a joy.
Huge thanks to our organizers Ali Krynitsky & Sergey Sergyenko and the whole @cybergizer team.
Let’s do it again in 2026. 🫶

After #balticruby - the RubyGems feature of a Trusted Publisher allows the gem to have a Sigstore record saved about it, which is rather cool.
I wrestled with this one, the first of many that we will need to introduce this for:
https://rubygems.org/gems/faraday-net_http
(The faraday gem already has this set up, it was all the other middleware and adapter gems that needed it.)
Read more about Trusted Publisher in this little website: https://segiddins.github.io/are-we-attested-yet/
I didn’t have a lot of time outside of #BalticRuby to explore Riga but it’s a very pretty city (especially when the sun comes out!)
Btw, just so you all know I wasn't talking crap, here's the official map of the Hamburg metropolitan area. So while you could argue Hamburg is more connected to the north sea via the Elbe river, the connection to the baltic sea was and is strong. Lübeck, Travemünde and the isle of Fehmarn are our gates to the Nordics and the Baltics.
Pleasing folk art in Riga. #ruby #BalticRuby

Baltic Ruby 2026 is happening in Hamburg, Germany next year!
@balticruby and @rubyunconf are joining forces to put on the 2026 edition!
“Ruby is irrelevant,” they said.
And then somehow the rooms filled up with developers
solving real problems and sharing real ideas.

There are more people at #BalticRuby using CRuby alternative JRuby than using any Rails alternative at all. JRuby is an important part of the diversity of Ruby and must be maintained.
I do love the way @timriley teaches Hanami in his talks. I will try to learn from him for future "practical JRuby" talks. Let me know if you'd like to see such a talk! #BalticRuby
🔍 Shoutout to our Silver Sponsor @typesense — the open source search engine that just works.
Fast, typo-tolerant, privacy-friendly — and built by devs, for devs.
Thanks for supporting the Ruby community at #BalticRuby! 💎
.@timriley is closing off @balticruby 2025 with the story how he got into Ruby, what it feels to manage non-mainstream Ruby open source ecosystems and shows how to get started with Hanami!
