When I started publishing my #bestthingtoday sketches,¹ the lead singer of Saltatio Mortis had just played in a fantasy RPG videogame songs about that game.

Today a dozen artists are publishing songs about tabletop #roleplaying and Video Games from #bg3 to #Warhammer 40k.

As horrible as the current time is, there are flares of hope from people who light up reality by creating beautiful art about the things they love - regardless of how freakish they may seem.

And It reminded me of all the great evenings when I read for the kids.

For november and december last year I extracted them from my #bestthingtoday sketches¹ for the friend who wrote the book I read.

One was watching the satire information Die Anstalt. One sunday it was playing a roleplaying game, in gray for a swamp and cave to steal from, and green for the grass and fireworks close by the cave. On a Wednesday and a tuesday it was creating an Earthdawn Character and playing a session. The next wednesday was playing with the kids. Many are reading to the kids, in the drawing a speech bubble shows a scene from the book. Two are with a blue rabbit, one a person celebrating next to a Spanish flag. One is a telecon with dog and a cat, one other is a dog pooping. Two were work. One shows a small stack of paper with the word “volatile”, below it a big stack of paper with the word “aspects of stability”, connecting the two is an arrow with the word “groundhog day” and three letters. Close to the end are a dryad standing in the sun and a letter with Maxwell’s equations.

What’s striking is that for all the time I spend on Youtube, watching a #youtube #video was the best thing on only 3 days out of about 500.

Tuesdays (Di) it’s often a lecture I give at the local dual university on distributed systems. Many are from reading aloud. One is from watching the Finsterwacht Music Video by Saltatio Mortis and Blind Guardian. Some are with rabbits (working on or with Freenet/Hyphanet), some are with sunflowers. Many are with a dog :-)

@Leadjockey I would dare you to plan to ☺ — for some argumentation why, you can find a lot of bad drawings of the best moments I had in the game in my #BestThingToday sketches:

The ones from the game are most of those frames with gray background and two "feet" (the computer screen ☺). Except for the one with Lae'zel below the mind flayer which lacks the screen because it was from the epilogue of my first playthrough and merited something larger.
