A water bird, just taken flight from the lake. On a very cold foggy morning, nothing else can be seen only the bird and its reflection on the water.

Great Crested Grebe At first I wasn't sure what I was looking at. Still very much one eyed while waiting for my 2nd cataract surgery. Have to say if there are "Punks" in the bird world then this fella would be among them.

The Great Crested Grebe has dark brown wings, satin white underparts, a black crown, dark olive-green feet and, during flight, prominent white patches are visible on its wings. This grebe has a white face with a red eye, and a black line from the base of the bill to the eye. The adult female is slightly smaller than the adult male. Juveniles have a striped black and white head and neck ( Series of 4 images in a collage )The Vanishing. Angel wing is a cosmetic deformity that affects the wings of geese and other aquatic birds. It occurs when the last joint of the wing twists, causing the wing feathers to point away from the body instead of lying flat against it.
This can be due to an unhealthy diet, such as feeding geese bread or crackers, which can cause nutritional deficiencies.

A group of geese wandering in a park. A number of the geese suffer from a deformity called angel wing which can be cause by a diet of hi carbs (bread, crackers etc) . The wings grow outwards from their body. It impedes their flight, and they become prey for predators.

@Myphatself My local birds are my #BirdNet. Nothing happens in my area without the birds knowing.

They tell me, if I listen what’s happening around the property. An ancestral magpie my Great Grandfather took a photo of a hundred years ago.

Minty, the youngest magpie in the clan has learned how to ask for food. Props herself on the door step, squawks quietly and chomps away.

Pushy

Feeding high energy live food can be problematic. Leave a bowl out and the pecking order means the youngest or most needy (Squeak, Minty) miss out to Pushy or Mouse. Spot ignores live food 🤣

So metering out food or demand feeds by single birds can help.
