Und dann frage ich mich natürlich, was wir als Weltgemeinschaft antworten: Nicht als #Asien, #Afrika, #Südamerika oder #Europa, sondern wir als #Weltgemeinschaft.

weiter: das mit dem #Generationenvertrag ist in der Tat ein grosses Problem. Immer weniger Menschen arbeiten für immer mehr #Rentenempfänger. Das kann nicht gut gehen. #Demographisch haben die #Renter die #Mehrheit bei den #Wahlen und bestimmen somit den politischen Kurs. #Demokratie halt. Als #Bismark die Rente einführte, wollte er niemals die Renter jahrzehnte lang durchfüttern. Kurzum: Wir müssen den #Sozialstaat abbauen, das gilt auch für viele andere Belange. Für ein Toot zu lang ;)

Manchmal denke ich mir, dass wir viel mehr Zeichen für die Errungenschaft von Frieden und Freundschaft in unserem Straßenbild brauchen.
Kriegsdenkmäler sind wichtige Erinnerungen, aber manchmal ist Frieden zu erreichen sehr viel schwieriger.

Kriegerdenkmal des Krieges 1870/71

Der Deutsch-Französische Krieg von 1870/71 führte zur Niederlage der französischen Armee und zur Gründung des Deutschen Reiches. Fast 190.000 Soldaten verloren in dem Krieg ihr Leben. Die hohen Reparationen, die Frankreich auf-gebürdet wurden, und die Ab-tretung des Elsass und Lothringens an das Deutsche Reich vergifteten die Beziehungen dauerhaft.

Die Errichtung des Denkmals für die Gefallenen der Ulmer Garnison erfolgte lange nach dem Krieg: 1896 beantragte der Veteranen-verein Ulm „Prinz Hermann von Sachsen-Weimar" die Aufstellung, und am 9. August 1903 wurde das von Wilhelm Holch entworfene Denkmal enthüllt. Die Medaillons zeigen Kaiser Wilhelm I., den Chef des Generalstabs Helmuth von Moltke, den damaligen preußischen Ministerpräsidenten Otto von Bismarck und den württembergischen König Karl. Als Inschriften sind zu lesen: „Ihren tapfern Söhnen die dankbare Vaterstadt", „Den Gefallenen zum ehrenden Gedächtnis", „Der Gegenwart zur dankbaren Erinnerung" und „Der Zukunft zur Nacheiferung".

Das Denkmal war Ausdruck des zunehmenden Nationalismus, der wenige Jahre später in den Ersten Weltkrieg mündete. Ulm bekennt sich heute zur Versöhnung mit früheren Kriegsgegnern und zur deutsch-französischen Freundschaft.
