OK, someone tell me I'm not alone here lol
When I watched Beauty and the Beast as a kid, hearing the line in Be Our Guest that goes "soup du jour, hot hors d'oeuvre," I didn't know what hors d'oeuvre meant (I don't remember if I knew soup du jour meant soup of the day or if I thought it was the name of a particular soup), so I heard it as "soup du jour, hot or derve," and reasoned that "hot and derve" must be two options for serving soup, so for years I thought "soup derve" was some kind of fancy French cold soup.
