Found at Bottle Beach, Brooklyn, old tiles meeting worn cement, a little story of time told through cracks, patterns, and textures.

Close-up view of a weathered tile floor. The tiles are arranged in a geometric pattern of reddish-brown octagons with small orange square insets. Some tiles are cracked or missing, exposing rough gray cement with irregular patches of white residue, giving the surface an aged and worn appearance.

Rust and time tell a story at Bottle Beach.

What looks like abstract art is actually rusted trash, unearthed as the land erodes. In the 1950s, NYC filled in the southern edge of the beach with garbage from Queens and Brooklyn. Now, the 25-foot mound is slowly releasing everyday objects from over a century ago—fragments of forgotten lives, resurfacing.

Went treasure hunting this past Sunday at Bottle Beach. Once home to the city's first landfill and a former dumping ground for horse remains during the horse-and-carriage era, this unique spot is steeped in raw, urban history. It is a gritty, fascinating adventure like no other.

One persons trash is another persons treasure.😉
