Around 1999 or 2000, I bought an old Compaq LTE 5300 laptop. It was outdated at the time, but it was fine for running Emacs and Nethack.
As of 2016, McLaren Automotive still used a Compaq LTE 5280 laptop as part of the system used to service the McLaren F1 supercar (also from the ‘90s): https://www.theverge.com/2016/5/3/11576032/mclaren-f1-compaq-laptop-maintenance
As of 2017, this was no longer the case; now they emulate the original software on a modern computer. https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/classic-cars/a14453949/the-only-mclaren-f1-technician-in-north-america/
