Инженерное чудо Compaq'а из 90-х…

Я большой фанат ноутбуков и любых схожих с ними устройств. В моей небольшой коллекции есть самые разные модели: с десктопными Pentium 4, с дискретными GPU от S3 Graphics и даже парочку «отвальных» ноутбуков с MXM-видеокартами. Однако одна модель особенно выделяется — ведь Compaq M300 был не только мощным и при этом компактным ноутбуком родом из 1999 года, но ещё и игровым — благодаря дискретной графике от ATi. Seller offers discount—intrigued—but it's just the board, would need the rest, but then I could have that quad Pentium Pro I've been wanting ever since this model came into existence (make it the Black Edition, 200Mhz + 2MB cache). There's simply never enough time to enjoy all of the vintage machines of which daydreams are made.

Это событие ознаменовало рождение самой популярной компьютерной архитектуры в истории. Несмотря на споры о том, какую модель считать первым настоящим ПК, именно IBM PC заложил основу для индустрии, какой мы знаем ее сегодня. В первой половине XX века IBM прочно удерживала лидерство на рынке табуляторов, а во второй доминировала в сегменте мейнфреймов. Успешный выход IBM на рынок ПК стал не только финансовым триумфом для компании, но и катализатором технологического прогресса, продемонстрировав миру открытую и удобную архитектуру персонального компьютера. Всего через пять лет объем рынка ПК превзошел весь рынок мейнфреймов, формировавшийся на протяжении почти четверти века. IBM купалась в лучах славы. Поначалу.

Bit of a long shot, but maybe someone knows how to reset the #BMS of a #Compaq #Armada 7700 laptop battery? I've replaced all cells and now the battery forgot that it is a battery, it doesn't show up as such in Windows98. #retrocomputing
