#Palestine / Israeli combat medic refuses army return, citing war crimes and Gaza Holocaust
Neta Lens Arbel, a 24-year-old former combat medic, has publicly refused to rejoin the Israeli army, citing the military's actions and values as contradictory to his moral principles.
Having previously served in the army and witnessed the treatment of Palestinians in the West Bank, Lens Arbel stated that the army's operations, including the ongoing war, involve human rights violations and actions against humanity. He describes the events in Gaza as a #holocaust, stating there is a systematic destruction of life there.
He believes that the army's actions are enabled by dehumanization and nationalistic propaganda, and that his refusal is a necessary step to promote peace and human rights.
Lens Arbel is the tenth public objector since the start of the war, joining four others currently imprisoned or facing repeated sentences: Itamar Greenberg (150 days), Yuval Moav (125 days), Ido Eilam and Sol Bachar Tslik (30 days each). Punishments for conscientious objectors have been intensified since the war began.
