If this doesn't answer the question of why young people should register and #vote nothing will. This is from the synopsis of Keith Olbermann's "Countdown" podcast today:
Trump has now floated reinstating the Military Draft.
He put the words in the mouth of the last of his Secretaries of Defense and that guy – Christopher Miller who sat back and watched January 6th unfold nearly as much as Trump did – dressed the draft up as “A National Service Requirement.” It seems to be targeted at 18, 19, and 20-year old American boys and girls (and maybe 17-year olds) and it would start with a mandatory military aptitude test administered BY the Pentagon IN your local high school and any kid who refused to take it might be prevented from graduating and any school that hesitated to go along with this would lose ALL federal funding.
Trump breaking precedent and using the American army domestically to suppress protests and conceivably kill civilians is not the bottom of the plan for the military-dictatorship part of his dictatorship. Those army soldiers, and marines, and whoever else, firing on other Americans – many of them or most of them or maybe all of them, would be draftees.
And when The Washington Post reported it, and the story got no traction and no pick-up at all, and even though the paper reported Trump had not expressly endorsed the draft, within six hours Trump posted an enraged denial reading “In fact, I never even thought of that idea” which even for him is a disastrously transparent non-denial denial. Of course HE never thought of that idea: when has Donald Trump ever thought anything about a military draft – except how to dodge it.
Somebody ELSE thought of that idea. The somebody else is that former Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller. The Post interviewed Miller and he said a national service requirement should be “strongly considered. He described the concept as a common “rite of passage,” one that would create a sense of “shared sacrifice” among America’s youth."
The impact this Washington Post story, could have on Trump’s campaign would be nothing short of fatal – if only it were to be handled correctly by BIDEN’S campaign:
Trump wants to reinstate the draft.
The. DRAFT.
Is there a more powerful campaign message than “Trump wants to draft your kids”? “Trump Wants To Force Your Kids To Kill Or Be Killed?” Actually there is. Because the voting age is not what it was in the ‘60s. The 18-year olds vote. There IS a more powerful campaign message and it is “Trump wants to draft YOU. Trump Wants To Force YOU to Kill or Be Killed.”

At the above link you can read the transcript or listen to the podcast in its entirety, and I strongly recommend you do. But I will just add this point:
Even if you think being a member of the military would be just swell, you have to ask yourself, do you really want to have people in your unit that don't want to be there? Some people loathe the idea of violence of any kind; some have no sense of patriotism or loyalty to a common cause, and some are physically or mentally unfit to serve (and no, not all of them get excused when there is a draft).
What happens when you put people like that in a battle situation is that your guys get killed by what is euphamistically called "friendly fire". That means you get shot by your own troops. Now why would that happen? Well let's say you order some soldiers to go in and kill everyone in a village. But there are women and children and old people there. One of your guys sees that situation and thinks to himself, "I'm not going to shoot those people; they are not combatants and they don't deserve to die. I'm going to instead shoot (or lob a grenade at) the son of a bitch that ordered me to kill them, and I'm also going to take out any guys I can that are just unthinkingly following that order." All it takes is ONE guy in a unit to think that way - and the thought may not even occur to him until the heat of battle - and you and some or all of your guys are coming home in boxes. I would be shocked if this isn't happening among the Israeli military right now, but military leaders will NEVER admit it happens because they don't want to give any other would-be shooters ideas, and because it would demoralize the troops. But it did happen in the VietNam war (it was called "fragging"), which was the last time the U.S. had a draft. In the case of a grenade there are no bullets to recover, so after the fact you have no way of knowing if it was your own troops or the enemy that threw it, and anyway not everyone has perfect aim.
Also during the VietNam war, a lot of our young men went to Canada and took up residence there. At some point many years later they were offered amnesty and the chance to repatriate but not all those eligible came back. By that time many had started new lives and families in Canada and decided to stay. I don't know if Canada would be willing to take in young Americans that don't want to be drafted again, but if they are not there are probably other countries that gladly would. A young person that speaks perferct English and knows American culture and has an American education could be quite prized in some countries that won't extradite to the USA.
Many of those young men that did not come home in coffins from VietNam were maimed in some way and still more of them to this day have severe lifelong PTSD.
Anyway, I'm just saying that if this doesn't convince young people to #VoteBlue (and also older people who were VietNam war resisters), I don't know what will. There are two things the #Democrats should work into every commercial from now until the election, and those are that #Trump is a convicted felon, and that he and his cronies want to bring back a #MilitaryDraft - and this time they want to draft young men AND women (well at least they are not sexist on THIS issue). Trump may deny it up and down because he likely knows this is the issue that can sink him with young voters, but remember that in some ways he is just a puppet, and that there are other people far worse than him that are pulling his strings!
