To help my Middle School coding class in Canvas be easier to navigate and just more FUN, I used Nano Banana / Gemini 3 to create some banner graphics for my course homepage, which link to different modules.

I used one Gemini chat to design and create the image prompts, and a separate chat to GENERATE the actual images, using the same colors, style, characters, “vibe,” etc.

Two colorful horizontal web banners featuring a mashup of Minecraft and Scratch programming imagery against a split background of a blocky landscape and a coding interface. The top banner, labeled "1.0 CLASS INFO & RESOURCES," shows the Scratch Cat standing with Minecraft characters Steve and Alex amidst floating coding blocks. The bottom banner, labeled "2.0 GETTING STARTED ASSIGNMENTS," depicts the characters engaged in tasks: Steve sits at a computer with a "screenshot" icon, Alex holds a checklist, and the Scratch Cat stands nearby, surrounded by peripherals like a keyboard and mouse.

An oil painting–style image showing Jesus as a dark-skinned, Middle Eastern or African man smiling joyfully as he carries a sheep across his shoulders. Around him, several villagers in earth-toned robes laugh and clap in celebration against a warm, sunlit village backdrop. Text at the bottom reads: “‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Luke 15:6.” In the top right corner, small white text says “AI image by wesfryer.com.”

Good progress on this vibe coding project so far... Got some pieces working but still not functional. Quitting for the night...

Chat log: chatgpt.com/share/68b7b494-e38

This screenshot shows a supportive response to Wes deciding to pause work for the night. The message reassures him of the significant progress already made, encourages rest before teaching in the morning, and explains that the remaining issue is manageable with debugging tools. It outlines the next step of running the previewOne_() function to adjust Substack email link extraction and offers to create a simple checklist for resuming the project tomorrow.
