This cover highlights the article NDP52 acts as a redox sensor in PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy by Tetsushi Kataura, Viktor I. Korolchuk and colleagues. Better together: human autophagy receptor NDP52 evolved the ability to form disulphide-linked chains which initiate the formation of an autophagosome around damaged mitochondria.
