Mais quid de styles qui ne sont que redéfinition de #CustomProperties dont l'application se fera dans le fichier externe ?

Autant une propriété style="width: 10rem;" est « auto-porteuse » et s'appliquera seule, sans CSS externe (ou en écrasant ce dernier), autant la redéfinition d'une custom propertie est « inerte » en elle-même.
