Operation Hanoi Thief: Vietnam APT
A spear-phishing campaign dubbed 'Operation Hanoi Thief' is targeting Vietnamese IT professionals and recruitment teams. The attack uses a malicious ZIP file containing a fake resume and an LNK file. The LNK file executes a pseudo-polyglot payload, which deploys a C++ DLL implant called LOTUSHARVEST through DLL sideloading. This implant functions as an information stealer, harvesting browser credentials and history before exfiltrating data to attacker-controlled servers. The campaign employs anti-analysis techniques and abuses trusted Windows tools. While similarities with previous Chinese-origin campaigns exist, definitive state sponsorship attribution remains inconclusive. The operation primarily affects the Information Technology and Recruitment sectors in Vietnam.

If I keep js disabled and then use extension will it still be a fingerprinting issue?
I mean for fingerprinting protections I go minimal with extensions. I only have Ublock origin. I want to keep dark reader but for fingerprinting issue I’m not doing it.
So if I keep js disabled with Ublock origin (I’m doing it for a while now) and then install dark reader will websites still be able to tell that I have dark reader installed?

A thread about web #browser #UI
The correct layout for a web browser is this:
[Bookmarks bar]: all the sites you might visit
[Tab bar]: all the sites you're currently visiting
[Address bar]: the site you're currently seeing
[Content]: the actual content of the site
It makes *no sense* to put the bookmarks bar below the address bar, above the content. Of the three bars it's the least coupled to the content of the site you're visiting.

Laboratory is an experimental Firefox extension that helps you generate a Content Security Policy (CSP) header for your website.
I use Firefox and Brave from chromium side. There are lots of chromium based browsers (almost all of them) with huge number of features but Brave stood out to me as a browser with minimal approach at first and I felt there is less bloat in this. Seem like brave is dominating the chromium market now.

@quippd as a #Vivaldi volunteer, I can relate, even if my contributions there are nowhere near those that many of the great people in the #Mozilla #community have given. For projects like Vivaldi, just like with #Firefox and #Thunderbird, community is the heart and soul.
And early Vivaldians like myself know: Vivaldi was founded by @jon as a community portal well before they started releasing browsers: https://vivaldi.net/about/
Jon had left #opera, the first #browser company he had founded, over disagreements with the investors about the direction the company was taking. Well, that direction included shutting down the MyOpera community. Vivaldi was where you could transfer your blog and find a forum to keep in touch with other ousted MyOpera community members. I moved February 2014. https://wildente.vivaldi.net/umgezogen/
This post reads like an ad for Vivaldi (and it certainly is), but it's really about me being grateful that the community I had was saved when corporate decision making chose to prioritize profits over people.
I hope the Mozilla community won't be dismantled the same way as MyOpera was back then. But they should know that over in the @Vivaldi community, even though it's not an open source project (but without external investors), they are still very much about the people.

Analysis of the Lumma infostealer
The Lumma infostealer is a sophisticated malware distributed as Malware-as-a-Service, targeting Windows systems. It primarily steals sensitive data such as browser credentials, cryptocurrency wallets, and VPN/RDP accounts. Lumma is often used in the initial stages of multi-vector attacks, including ransomware and network breaches. The malware is distributed through phishing sites, disguised as pirated software, and uses complex techniques like NSIS packaging, AutoIt scripts, and process hollowing to evade detection. To combat this threat, organizations should implement behavior-based detection systems and integrate threat intelligence into their security strategies.

‘Slop Evader’ Lets You Surf the Web Like It’s 2022
image via 404media.co[Slop Evader is] a new browser tool that filters your web searches to only include results from before November 30, 2022 — the day that ChatGPT was released to the public. Created by artist and researcher Tega Brain, who says she was motivated by the growing dismay over the tech industry’s unrelenting, aggressive rollout of so-called “generative AI”—despite widespread criticism and the wider public’s distaste for it.
