My latest creation, Frankenstein-like ... a diddley-bow or single string guitar.

I only mark the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 12th fret positions. The rest are guesstimates between them.

Tuned G so the fret marks are on A#, C, D and G octave.

It rings rather nicely with good sustain.

In other respects it sounds dreadful ... which is 👍👍👍😎

A home made single string guitar also known as a diddley bow. Made from a length of 3 by 2 timber, a bowl, a chrome plated tray and a brass decorated plate. Currently tuned "open" G because that's the note the single string rings at. The bridge is a broken hex drill bit. The metal parts are held slightly apart by sitting on spring washers. This allows lots of harmonics to ring at random. Played with a slide.

This sounds dreadful ... a diddley-sitar I suppose it should be called. Tuned B.
