Oh and if you are into digital compost there is a great read by Sinclair, C., Hayes, S.

Between the Post and the Com-Post: Examining the Postdigital ‘Work’ of a Prefix. Postdigit Sci Educ 1, 119–131 (2019). doi.org/10.1007/s42438-018-001

at the Networked Learning Conference.

I talked to my communication class yesterday about #digitalCompost and they thought I had lost my mind. Luckily we have be practicing to learn #posse so the idea of allowing for layers of digital production and protecting ‘time’ on online networks made a bit more sense contrasted with preserving past digital products and maintaining access.

I am happy I moved to having the ‘medium’ up front instead of hidden behind the ‘message’ in my communication classes.

And thanks to #bearblog introducing markdown has been simple and straight forward, which has allowed me to dismantle the myth of MSWord as wizardry (at least with these kids). I know there are other ways and tools, but if you are trying to apply Papert’s #constructionist approach to pedagogy for communication and writing, starting with a simple FOSS blog is a really good way to start.

And it just might be a gateway drug to HTML for language and humanities oriented students. Because if they can learn all the buttons on MSWord then they can learn any text formatting.
