I just watched Cory Doctorow's excellent #pyconus2025 keynote: to my mind a powerful presentation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydVmzg_SJLw. Thosewho found it relevant might also like to reflect on Eric Sterling's 2012 #djangocon keynote https://pyvideo.org/djangocon-us-2012/djangocon-2012-keynote-eric-sterling.html.
It's interesting hearing warnings about today's malaise from 13 years ago, to some the generation of technologists that have helped to create it. It wasn't a popular keynote, IIRC.
django-template-partials makes this even easier by not making you create full templates for every snippet you want to return. you can define partials in a full template.
All of this together lets you stay in one template file and one view file for longer.
This is Locality of Behavior and lets you move faster!
The thesis: If you lean hard into Django, you can produce excellent results without spending double on engineering.
#Django is the perfect framework for the post-ZIRP world.

We need to have another #DjangoCon 2009. My T-shirt from the last one is really starting to show its age:
Edit: added photo. Thanks for the reminder, @adamchainz!
I just met a young man from Pittsburgh with 4 years of programming/ECE experience who asked about my laptop stickers. We had a great conversation. We chatted about Python, WebDev, embedded, electronics, school, travel - just a wonderful & welcome break from my typical coffee shop hyperfocus.
I encouraged him to get to a #PyConUS or #DjangoCon if it works out at some point. Hopefully we'll all see Travis online or at a convention.
This has happened many times.
Get some #LaptopStickers!

Is there a reason #DjangoCon doesn't have a posters track? Did it have one in the past that just fizzled out?
#PyConUS was the first time I've been to a conference with posters, and it was a lot of fun.
As someone who mostly tends to prefer static material over dynamic for learning (give me docs instead of videos, please), I really got a lot from the posters that were presented this year, as well as the creators who were answering questions.
It made me **really** want to make posters!
I posted a summary of my experience at the "DjangoCon Europe 2025" conference. ๐ช๐บ๐ฎ๐ช
I listed in chronological order all the posts published on Mastodon during the conference. ๐ฌ
Lots of selfies guaranteed. ๐คณ
I wrote a blog post to collect my thoughts about DjangoCon in Dublin. ๐ฎ๐ช
Thank you to everyone who put effort into creating such a wonderful conference ๐ @djangoconeurope
@djangoconeurope Europe was, as always, a fantastic experience. Thank you to everyone involved. I hope to see you all again next year, if not before.
As promised, I'm sharing an annotated version of my slides as a blog post: https://karenjex.blogspot.com/2025/05/anatomy-of-database-operation.html
Have you thrown your hat in the ring for the #DjangoCon CFP?
You have 40 minutes left to do so ๐ฌ
โฒ๏ธ 1 hour and 25 minutes https://pretalx.com/djangocon-us-2025/cfp
๐ซถ here are our highlights and cool pictures from @djangoconeurope. We had a great time! https://wagtail.org/blog/djangocon-europe-2025-vibes-and-photos/
Sumit isn't here, but they shared this on the #Django discord. Well done #DjangoCon! They had a great time.
@nanorepublica talking about coming home after #DjangoCon Europe:
"... I need to go to bed early..."
That sounds about right ๐

#djangoconeurope2025 has come to an end. I'm already back in Germany.
On the flight back I tuned in to the (for me until the conference unknown)
Python Podcast Deutschland ( @show )
Luckily I met @jochen @oryon_dominik and @shezi who introduced me to the #podcast (after some Guinness ๐บ)
