Caught up on my #DresdenFiles. That last one was a bit of a slog, and had /serious/ GameMasterAnthony's birthday party thread vibes, but still fun enough. Def a bit of a “ok well either he gets back on track after this, or it's really just off the rails” pivot point tho.

Next is back to #Discworld with Reaper Man, I enjoy a good Death-focused romp which I assume this will also be.

After that I reckon it'll be back to scifi for a while, this will be the 4th fantasy(ish) book in a row.

I learned this in one of the #DresdenFiles books.

Reading plot summaries of the #DresdenFiles as prep for picking it back up (at Peace Talks) and realizing that, wow, okay. Butcher is /obsessed/ with parricide. Nearly every single frigging book involves extreme family on family ultraviolence.

Sure it’s usually of the “evil always backstabs itself” variety, but like, sheesh.

I just watched The Batman last night and had a realization.

Harry Dresden is Batman.

They both
Are detectives
Fight unusual crime that the city can't handle
Live in "Chicago"
Have an underground lair
Vigilante
Make all their own tools
Wear a big flappy outer garment
Are known for their willpower
Can take a hell of a beating

I loved the Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher. So I was excited when they made a TV series based on it. Unfortunately, it wasn't the same, and it never really hit off. On itself, I did enjoy it.

I made Bob The Skull from the #dresdenfiles for my step dads christmas gift this year. A few mistakes learned from but ultimately I think it turned out pretty cool! 3d printed the skull, base coated in skull white, painted on the details, did a soft tone wash to add some "aging", then a varnish coat. my mistake was using a gel pen to sketch on the designs. I was unaware that the paint would reactivate the gel ink and it made a huge mess... lesson for next time to just use pencil
