i deCapitated the rotting parts of my full name but some people started making fake recipe sites with that (wine nor meat nor coffee interests me ... unless it's coffee crisp: ) so i might have to shorten it further

Former Advertising & Graphic Design grad ( yesu.neocities.org/port ) who gave it all up unwillingly (likely 'cause of my poortfoolio) to become disabled through manual labour and sleep loss

Currently research #foss software and tinker on yip.pe and penpot.app mostly for fun

Send me a private message (not sure if this is possible?) with your email if you'd like to be added to my #penpot portfolio group! )

Made a few ads and album covers more recently, mostly for myself and my faMily. As you can tell my quality level is very sub-par. Most won't even accept my volunteer efforts; )

In 2017, I looked out of my window on a full moon night and decided to call my fursona Luna.

Soon after that I made my twitter account (RIP pre-Elon Twitter) and named it after my fursona: Luna, the dragofelis. LunaDragofelis. I avoided using my "real" name for online things for privacy and safety, so using a fursona seemed like a good idea.

From then onwards, I started using that username for other services too.

When I "hatched" (discovered I'm transgender) I already had a name I used online and liked, so I just decided to stick with Luna. Using my fursona for my online name (especially considering my fursona already had the right gender) was a good idea indeed!

As the theory of dragofelines shifted through different names, eventually arriving at the name meltcats, Dragofelis shifted in meaning to become my surname. (Unfortunately Germany doesn't allow voluntary legal surname changes. I plan on making Dragofelis my middle name as part of my upcoming legal gender change, which includes a first and middle name change)

@ferret

#ExplainYourUsername

I did this in my bio post a long time ago, but I'm a nerd and this looks like a fun tag to follow around.

I ramble a lot among friends or when comfortable, hence Wrambles.

I'm a book nerd, love Dracula, and /really/ loved the Coppola film. My favourite scenes are those with Frost's Lucy Westenra in her burial whites stained with blood. They're so striking!

I also love Hackers, and Joey's computer was named Lucy.

Lucy Westenra became LucyWrambles. C'est moi. 🖤

So, I'm not actually a ferret, I'm a pine marten. "Comrade Marten" just ended up sounding confusing.

Real talk: It's my 'sona for a few reasons, the big one being my dad trapped them for a living when he was a kid — but also because mustelids are insane, fearless, and smell awful, all of which I can sympathize with.

which in retrospect makes sense, as the Basque region of Spain has hedgehogs, but hystricomorph porcupines are exclusive to the Americas.

(There are also porcupines in Africa but they're an entirely unrelated species, surprisingly enough.)

#ExplainYourUsername: a thread

There's a few out there. The most straightforward one is my "professional" one, which is just my legal first name and last name. When I got my name legally changed I purposefully went with the same first initial so I wouldn't have to change or explain my professional-life email address.

#ExplainYourUserName

It’s just my initials. When I started posting shitty music online back in the 90s I just couldn’t think of a name and it was short and easy. Later on “bgm” became internet shorthand for “background music” which I thought was sort of funny and appropriate.
Thinking of names is hard.

RoofhareRoofhare
2025-03-14

Roofhare is a littleral translation from the Dutch “dakhaas” I grew up in Utrecht, NL, where, at the time, it was used more in a derogatory sense “achtelijke dakhaas” (crazy roof hare). So I use it in a slight self-deprecating way. I have used that moniker at first mostly for my music work. I’ve stuck with it here, but am considering changing it.
My profile image of the hare statue is from a photo I took during one of my visits in Utrecht at ‘de Neude’ near ‘de Voorstraat’.

@NullTheFool l and j are my initials of my boy- and girlmode names respectively, r the second initial of my assigned name and k of my family name. I also use ElleJay as a name which is just lj spelt differently. Within games, I either use Forch Gock, which is a pun on the German military ship with the initial letters swapped making it a pun on g(irlc)ock, or General Protection Fault, which is also a pun on the military title General and the error message that results from accessing invalid memory.

#ExplainYourUsername

It's an anagram of my two first names and my surname. Merle means blackbird in French, a songbird alluding to my work as a musician, barde (bard) is for my poetic sensibility and Celtic frame of reference and noir (black) because it evokes the night that I've always accepted to nourish within me.

#ExplainYourUsername

It's my real forename. I am, in general, mostly a real person. And I don't do anything interesting these days, like attend political protests or practise rooftop parkour or anything else that might occasionally require a less obvious identity. Being disabled is dull, apart from the government constantly trying to starve you to death.

In hamburg slang you can say "moinsen" instead of "moin", which sounds very similar to "Moin Zen".

It sounds funny to say "moinzen ottensen"

At first, it was the name of a messenger chat group, the idea came from our dharma teacher Sung-Yon Lee (in 2017 maybe).

#ExplainYourUserName

EthicalRevolution is the name of the project I’ve been running since 2013. It began as a website which was sort of a ‘Money Saving Expert’ specifically for more ethical goods and services.

It came about when I started making big changes in my own life, thinking more about the impacts of my daily transactions. I was trying to do everything with sustainability in mind.

The trouble I faced was that the more ethical stuff tended to always cost a lot more than mainstream alternatives and I have never earned much money (a story for another time) so it was difficult to achieve.

I would scour for hours to find the cheapest places to get said ethical goods/services when I needed them. I lamented the fact there was no way of doing this other than performing multiple searches and going to multiple websites to find the best option and so I set up a website where anyone could search for anything and find links to good deals to bring down the cost of ethical purchasing.

It was the first website of its kind at the time.

In the years that ensued sustainability has become a more prominent issue and moved more in to mainstream thinking, which is of course a very positive thing. As such there are now loads of websites that do what EthicalRevolution once did and so my site has since undergone its own little revolution and is now set up as a 26 step challenge (from A-Z) that anyone can take to try to create a better world for themselves and their surroundings. 👇
