“The Exterminating Angel”, Luis Buñuel, 95 minutes (1962) – This political allegory is dense with meaning, but the thing that got me hooked and reviewing was Buñuel’s use of repetition. It’s fascinating to compare the chain of events that ‘locks' the bourgeois dinner guests into the room, and the restaged spell that breaks them out of it.
