The #UK announces new powers making it easier to #mobilise tens of thousands of former armed forces personnel to #prepare for #war.

New rules mean #reservists remain on call for an extra decade, & lower the threshold for them being called into service.

The measures affect the segments of the armed forces reserve who are former service personnel known as the #strategicreserve.

I don't know that this is the loudest 3D-printable emergency whistle as it claims, but it does print well even on a low-end printer (I've tested with clear PLA, prints fine) and it is loud.

It's always handy to have emergency kit around. I suggest pairing them with foam earplugs.

#Advent is the season of preparation. Liturgically speaking, we are preparing both for the already and not yet — the already of Christmas and the not yet of Christ’s return.

But I’ll be honest, with all of the day-to-day tasks I’m faced with, it seems my ability to prepare gets pushed aside. The house may not get decorated, am I really prepared for Christmas? Cards may not get sent out, leaving me feeling unprepared for the holidays.

Being prepared is hard work, and sometimes I’m not all that good at it.
