Richard Dadd was a 19th-century painter. He was an extremely promising painter but unfortunately he never succeeded because of his rapidly declining mental health. He murdered his father, tried to flee to France, tried to murder another tourist in Paris and ended up in Bethlem Royal Hospital where he painted his masterpiece "The Fariy Fellers Master-stroke" which inspired the Queen-song, written in 1974

Painting by Richard Dadd "The Fairy Fellers Master stroke". It is a very confusing painting with a depiction of a procession of fairies within foliage. Main colour is brown and the main subject is the little fairy feller who splits a hazelnut for fairy-queen Mab's carriage
