Today I had the best and most scary experience of my life: as one of the official company #firstaider |s I was able to help an unconscious person. Everything went right to what I learned in the #firstaid courses (which I do each year since about 10 years).
My colleagues, who I directed, reacted perfectly (Mark, if you read this: thank you so much!), the #emergency physicians arrived quickly and took care of the meanwhile conscious person in need.
I functioned as trained, when it was necessary.

Then, when all was over, came the shock. I was at first not even capable of plugging the USB-C charger to my laptop. I spare you the other symptoms.

But it is the best feeling in the world that I was able to help. I just hope the person will be fine again.

I urge you to volunteer as company first aiders. We are important, we can make a difference - we can safe lives.

Certo, fa impressione la dicitura “management of catastrophic bleeding” che nella realtà, dovesse mai capitare, è più probabile che svenga alla vista del sangue 😅.
Però ce l’ho fatta. Per me è tanta roba eh.

In questi giorni sto facendo il corso di primo soccorso e la cosa più bella e sconcertante è stata scoprire che esiste una playlist creata apposta per il CPR, per dare il giusto ritmo nella manovra di rianimazione.
Geniale.

Just had to use my first aid skills in town. Older chap in café missed a step while turning to thank staff. I heard the commotion inc. glass smashing (a display bottle of wine). I made sure he was OK, sat and chatted with him while I finished my coffee. Staff brought him some water. I walked up to Boots with him as we were both going there, and found him some arnica cream as he will be very bruised. Lovely chap, very embarrassed (tbh it’s something I would do!!!).
