@RamenCatholic I used to make bamboo flutes, some of which ended up on stages and in recordings. When there was (as there was) a registry in Seattle for makers of combat flutes, I was on that registry.

You need:

1) well-dried bamboo
2) a way to cut it cleanly
3) a soldering iron (not a good one)
4) a wire coat hanger or similar and a way to heat it up a lot (a stove will do fine)
5) measuring tape
6) strong string, preferably something you'll like to look at because you use it to bind the flute and it's visible.

Helpful: A round finishing file, or sandpaper you can roll into a cylinder.
