Walks with our dog Brodie are characterised by much snuffling and occasional runs to follow some scent. He likes to lead but stops at every junction to see which way we’ll go. I make a decision based on time and weather. He always is accepting. If I offer him the choice he will turn the way he’d like and I’m happy to follow that.

This walk by the sea is never the same two times running…. What is always the same is the joy of having a dog for company.

I know that this photograph will always bring back happy memories of the time and the place. We live a short distance from this grassy headland poking a finger out to sea. The paths are through grass and heather. The colours are warm and the sea shimmers in the late afternoon sun. Brodie is always a rich red fox shade.
