Using another gesture drawing as a #monoprint painting prompt.

I tucked it into a clear plastic sleeve and then popped the #gelliprint plate over it, and did a lines paint over.

Trying to use smaller lines and more saturation first, and when that dries, hit it with wider brushes and less saturated color.

The marks and color came out nice, but the cars are flattened by the photo graphics’ mid tones. Next time I might try drawing over with acrylic markers to do fine detail in the foreground.

The finished print framed in a glass sandwich style floater frame. The print is off register / not perfectly aligned in the center of the paper, and also at a slight angle.

The first layer of the gelli print laser printer photo transfer in dark green. The gelli plate is on a cutting mat, itself taped to a workbench

It’s still drying but looks pretty promising.

Voting was pretty strong for this Havana street for the #monoprint for my spouse, here’s a #WIPWednesday from photo to transfer to foreground paintover so far.

The source material / inspiration is this 2003 travel photo of a couple of cars driving past some chatting neighbors on a Havana, Cuba street

The gelliplate after having pulled a green/black print of the photo. I scraped back the sky and some other places with a stiff dry brush

The cars and street have been painted over and foreground items like the lamppost are getting developed too

More progress including a solid street paint over the details

It came out pretty good, I think.

I went back and touched up a couple of small peel flecks. No big tears tho.
