#grassRoof

My #MidweekMuseum recommendation this week is #Laufás folk and heritage #museum in #Iceland, not too far from #Akureyri in the north of the country. This is not your normal turf house, as it was a wealthy manor house and vicarage. There's a church there you can visit too, but the house is the main star, and is TARDIS-like in its size inside with corridors and rooms off everywhere in the grassy landscape.

A bright, sunny day, with a sky patterned unevenly with blue patches and puffy, white clouds. We're standing on lush, green grass looking across a very slight rise towards a hill of grass a few dozen metres away that's just not quite high enough to block out the view of the snow-peaked mountains in the distance. Apparently embedded into the hill are the faces of five houses, although two are slightly different than the other three. Each one is a traditional house shape of a square face with pointed roof coming down from the centre. The faces are white, vertical wooden-panelled, each with two square windows on the ground level and one more central above it in the roof space of the small buildings. Only three, however, contain doorways, and we can see that the houses only sink back a metre or so before disappearing into the hillside where they're probably connected to one another in one large structure. There are four people on the grass in front looking at and photographing the buildings.Inside a room in an old wooden building. It's dark, with dark wooden beams on show and the hint of some form of dirt or peat brick panelling in the walls. Some stone blocks form a trough of sorts and some large metal pots are resting in sectioned off areas of the trough. It looks like some antiquated form of multiple hobs in a fireplace. It feels enclosed and quiet here, but protected from the elements.Inside a room in an old wooden building. The walls are panelled in wood and there is furniture in keeping with a dining room - cupboards and chests of drawers, plus a table with four chairs set at it, two against each of the slightly longer lengths. Behind the table is a window letting in light to this place. In contrast to the last photo, this feels more modern, but still lacking much in the way of modernity. The table is set with some plates, cups and saucers, and an oil lamp.Outdoors, on a bright, sunny day with mostly blue sky. We're standing on lush, green grass at the rear of a building built from thick stone and roofed with grass. There are four recesses into the wall at the rear in which some small windows are set almost at ground level, and in the roof space four more windows can be seen amongst the overgrown grass, although not in line with the windows below. There's a feeling that the house has evolved and had changes applied over time, and with the roll and rise and fall of the grass we're standing on we can tell that the house is partially submerged into the landscape for protection from the elements. Just beyond the building in the distance to the right we can see a low bank on cloud or mist on the horizon obscuring the base of a snow-peaked mountain range. It feels very peaceful here.

Sometimes we think the powerElite do not want us to live in equilibrium, specifically so they can turn up their noses at us and #virtueSignal about how they built the perfect #vaccuumSealed #ecoMansion with a #grassRoof and 10 acres of #sunCapturing #land.

Also then they can feel okay about bombing us and treating us like their cattle.

After they #thinTheHerd they can return to #growthMantras etc and they can continue the cycle.
