GUITAR PILGRIM
"HOW TO PLAY 'I CAN HELP'"

How To Play 'I CAN HELP'
Guitar Pilgrim

youtube.com/watch?v=1Ddugnie3X

This video, posted today, has me on Guitar Pilgrim's schedule, not my own. However, he posted this video this morning; and posting a link promptly is advantageous. In this video, among much else, Guitar Pilgrim demonstrates how one guitarist can play two guitar parts. He also demonstrates how easy it is to lose track of a sequence and play the right combination of notes in the wrong spot. So anyway, to my surprise and maybe yours, today we get treated to a Guitar Pilgrim twofer. For anyone who may find this post first, the prior one is Top Ten Tricks Great Guitarists Use.

Your focus on the reasons why not keeps you from ever getting started.

Your focus on needing all the problems to be solved first also keeps you from ever getting started. (This used to be my thing. I wouldn't let myself be a full-time content creator/writer because I wanted all the problems solved first.)

Your focus on fixing the problems makes you make choices you don't want to make. Now suddenly you think you have to make a certain choice because the other way isn't open to you yet. The problems block you.

You lose sleep because of your focus.

You can't think clearly because of your focus.

You feel like crap because of your focus.

What if I told you that I had a big pile of problems over there in the corner that I can't fix? They just sit there, and I'm absolutely fine because I don't focus on them.

I'm not ignoring anything. It's not that I don't care. I haven't desensitized myself. I just don't let my own focus be the thing that disempowers me. My focus is where my power is so that means I have to choose it carefully.

By controlling your focus it allows you to gain control over your inside world. You learn to be okay anyway. You learn that you don't have to put your goals on the backburner because of the pile of problems or your fear of things.

Fear is also a focus problem that can be shifted.

How did I shift my focus?

I let life happen and watched. Did my focus on it change the outcome? Nope.

Did my focus on it stop me from moving forward? Yep. All the time.

Was that keeping me stuck? You bet.

How do you think I got here? The problems didn't magically go away. I stopped paying attention and did what I wanted to anyway.

To do that, I sat in shit tons of fear and anxiety for months while I watched the outcomes and taught myself that I didn't need to feel like that.

Over time I shifted my focus, freed myself, and started to do my own thing anyway.

How did I stay in that when it was really hard? I made the goal more important than anything that I was experiencing in the present. I maintained my relationship with my goals, not the problems. I broke up with the problems and I committed to my goals.

It's not easy, but it is possible.

Love to all.
