This photograph shows the winter sunrise as seen from the island of Werd. A flock of birds is just passing by in the direction of the Rhine. It was a very cold morning and the thick fog only lifted shortly before I took this picture. The play of colors created by the light of the sun instantly transformed the landscape, which had been bathed in a grey, gloomy atmosphere just a short time before. Maybe that's why I still remember this morning so vividly today.
Technical note: I used an analog medium format camera and negative film for this photo.
Lying at the western end of the Untersee, Werd Island is also washed by the waters of Lake Constance in Switzerland, which a few hundred metres away flows into the High Rhine. People have been coming to the island since time immemorial, using it as a place of dwelling and religious worship.
Photographer Marco Zedler spent severall months exploring this remarkable setting between nature, civilization and spiritual life. Presented here for the first time are the resulting landscape photos and his personal impressions of daily monastic life.

Irgendeine gute Seele hat sogar das #Labyrinth in #OpenStreetMap eingezeichnet. Und man kann sich sogar den Weg zwischen zwei Punkten berechnen lassen 😊
