AI and the orchestra: Here's Robert Laidlow demonstrating the cadenza of his TECHNO-UTOPIA on the #Stacco – an instrument created by Intelligent Instruments Lab. The performer moves magnetic spheres across the surface of the Stacco, controlling an #AI model trained on 2,600 hours of BBC Radio 3 recordings of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. At recording the going through a RAVE model trained on Korean chants. The audio of the feedbacking strings goes through the model while the pressure on each of the eight segments of the fretboard shifts each of the eight latent dimensions of the autoencoder. You can also hear @thor coming through the door 🙂
