#ArtAdventCalendar Day 4

I think that nature is a better artist than me. Perhaps therefore, my jacket and trouser pockets are always full after a walk in the woods. And then I put the stuff on the table and talk to it, or it talks to me. After all that chatting, I have a new collage. 😉

A rectangular (portrait) abstract collage on a yellow background. The composition is based on a cross with the intersection point shifted to the top right. It's made with different white papers (transparent fluffy mulberry paper and lace print) and nature findings (wild cherry bark, a grea lichen, a very long acorn (like a pendant), an intertwined structure (root?), and some small copper stars. The natural holes in the bark are embroidered with silver thread.A completely curled and intertwined wooden structure marks the intersection point. If I remember well, it was a root found in a maize field.A long acorn mounted like a pendant under a real lichen. It comes from a nearly 200 yrs old oak.The outer bark of a wild cherry, native to our forest edges. It's placed in the focus of the collage. The natural holes let me think of a writing done by the tree - I embroidered abstract signs along these holes (with silver thread). They look like unknown letters from another civilisation.

Yesterday I started a new project: a textile #scrollBook, something like an #artBook as a #scroll.
The photo shows my work to find a collage composition. When I'm satisfied with that sample, I'll fix the pieces with wild #embroidery. Later I'll "write" with #stitches. More info: alt text!

A wide band of cotton flannel, purple irregular dyeing with red tee. The fabric comes from the outer cloth of a cloth nappy that I wore as a baby. Gauze was used on the inside and flannel on the outside. Collage elements of sari silk, white lace and used teabags attached with pins. Colour spectrum: shades of purple, yellow-green. The elements will be fixed with intuitive embroidery in similar colours. Beside it my needle book (made from a vintage book) and scissors.A large dark brown wooden spool with the purple fabric wound onto it. The antique bobbins come from old weaving mills. Dyed with red tea and fixed with salt, the fabric gets an interesting degraded colouring of blueish purple.Example of a scroll book made with white tissue. A metal clip will hold the end to make it easier to roll up the book. You can either store it rolled up or hang it open on the wall. Some of the white fabric in concentrated black tea. In a hot tea bath, after some hours, the fabric will be dyed in natural colours.
