Oh, I definitely don't have the stamina for that! #EmpressKi was the only long historical drama that I'm glad that I watched. Jewel in the Palace #DaeJangGeum and #jewelinthepalace #DongYi made me feel like ripping my eyes out after the first few shouts of "Majesty!".

¨Dae Jang Geum"
2003, 54 episodes
A very influential Korean TV-drama, which started a new interest in natural ways of eating.
First in Asia, global later.

Not just the food, but when, how and why.
Wiki explains how accurate the description of her person is.
The title ¨Dae" (=Great) was given by the King.
As drama it is Top, puts every other food-related TV-show in the shadow.

Two leading characters in Korean hit-drama Dae Jang Geum

@hanktank61 I really enjoyed both of these. Dont feel like #QueenSeonDuk gets near the appreciation and love it deserves. Glad to see someone talking it up. One other classic #kdrama that I found utterly fascinating was #JewelInThePalace (think it is also called something like The Great Jang Geum or Dae Jang Geum). She first worked in the palace kitchens then became the first female royal physician (to the king). I kept having to stop watching to look things up- like was this true historically?

@jai_oh Woot! It's not the usual Korean political royal palace drama.

For me, it's ranks with the classics , , and . It focuses more on the characters and the values they believe in and learn. The politics were only a plot device instead of the main theme.

Too bad, it's only 16 episodes. I hope it's similar to the classics, 50+ episodes, 60 mintutes each. ^_^;;
