Years ago, singer-songwriter Alana Sweetwater was featured in the Popdose.com feature on "Overnight America With Jon Grayson." Since then, it has been astonishing that her career has not taken off more than it has. She has done well in her adopted hometown, Los Angeles, California; but it would have been easy to imagine her doing even better. She writes strong songs and performs well, both with a band and as a solo act. Sounds like a complete package to me. Lately, Sweetwater has been characterized as an authenticity coach, maybe something like a specialized self-help promoter. Here is a possibly tear-bringing video that she posted quite recently.

It is well worth watching for those trying to be true to themselves. Half a century ago, Society of Friends (Quaker) Back Benchers, along a similar line, spoke of being present where you are.
Boston and London singer-songwriter Eileen Rose, who has had pop-rock success, especially with Fledgling and later with the album "Shine Like It Does," has had good success as the author of self-help books.
