"Het Israëlisch ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken bevestigt dat militairen een aantal boten van de Gaza-vloot hebben geënterd. Onder meer de Zweedse activiste Greta Thunberg is aangehouden. "Greta en haar vrienden zijn veilig en gezond", schrijft het ministerie. De activisten zouden worden overgebracht naar een Israëlische haven. De activisten zelf spreken van "een aanval" op hun vloot.

Drie opvarenden van de Nederlandse boot zeggen in een video op Instagram in hongerstaking te gaan als zij worden aangehouden."

De organisatie achter de activistenvloot naar Gaza zegt dat alle opvarenden ongedeerd zijn. Wel beweert de organisatie dat de Israëlische marine een boot "opzettelijk geramd" heeft. Verder zeggen de activisten dat meerdere bootjes met waterkanonnen zijn bestookt.

Het is nog onduidelijk hoeveel van de honderden activisten inmiddels zijn aangehouden door de Israëlische marine. Volgens de activisten hebben ze niets illegaals gedaan en zijn ze op internationale wateren tegengehouden door Israël. De Israëlische autoriteiten hadden van tevoren aangekondigd dat ze niet zouden toestaan dat de tientallen bootjes naar Gaza zouden varen om noodhulp te leveren aan de Palestijnen.
