2. I'd hoped we'd see the newborn lamb totter to her feet, but perhaps we're still 10 minutes or so away from that new skill.
Just another set of little miracles amongst the thousands, millions, of others that will happen today.

A ewe, her hind quarters still bloodied from birth, licks her new lamb, which is lying on green grass

#Lambing time is mostly lovely, but when Mumsies JUST WANT SOME PEACE and ignore their lambies the sound is heart-breaking, and somehow penetrates something in oneself that's hard to ignore.
This little one will find Mumsie soon, but in the meantime, we have to hear its little pleas.
(That's not Mumsie on the other side of the fence, by the way)

A lamb looks at us. Half its face is lit by the sun, the other half in its own shadow.

Of course, it all gets a little tiring after a while.
Play is fun. Sleep is fine too.

A lamb lies curled up on the grass while Mumsie feeds behind.

It's that lovely but short period when the lambies test their new legses out, form little gangs and generally teach us what life is all about.
Wait for the one that tried leaping the rocks, but... just couldn't make it.

A small lamb, lying on the grass, but with its head up. It's eyes are half closed,

Came across a lamb on the wrong side of a fence from its mum today, both sounded quite distressed. After a short low speed pursuit I was able to pick up the lamb and pop it over the fence to be reunited.

I've never held a lamb before, it was so cute! In other news I may now be vegetarian again and also I want to have a baby.

The light is beginning to give out, but I was in a monochrome mood that the ewe and her lamb reflected when I spotted them up towards a fence.
There are real lessons for us people at lambing time.

Mae defaid yn sefyll, gyda'i oen yn gorwedd ar y gwair.

Silber hat innerhalb von nicht Mal zwei Stunden ganz sang- und klanglos zwei Lämmer zur Welt gebracht.

Beim Abendstall machen habe ich sie separiert, weil sie Anzeichen für baldige Geburt hatte.

Es ist so schön, wenn man weiss, dass die allermeisten Geburten ganz einfach und unspektakulär passieren.
