TFW you realize you’ve cocked up a project, and you’re going to have to scrap and redo a not-insignificant portion of it. 😕

I was trying to use mudding to compensate for uneven surfaces between the old and new drywall surfaces. I should have used shims to bring the new pieces out even with the old, so that I would only need a thin surface coat of mudding.

A section of a wall where large portions of drywall have been replaced, and mudding (joint compound) has been applied over it. The texture is bumpy and uneven, because it was applied very thickly to compensate for uneven joining of the old and new drywall surfaces.
