#lightcurve

In case some astronomer has more #telescope time than what they know what to do with, I have a target-of-opportunity #asteroid observable right now: 2013 XV8 (apparent magnitude ~22.1 and rising). Today I've been going through an updated Karman+ mission target list and this guy has appeared there. I love it - Ch type, ~9 hr period (U code is 1 though) and I would love to verify it with more #lightcurve observations.

Hit me up if you have telescope time and want to help / have any questions 🙂

Light curve (Planetary science 🪐)

In astronomy, a light curve is a graph of the light intensity of a celestial object or region as a function of time, typically with the magnitude of light received on the y-axis and with time on the x-axis. The light is usually in a particular frequency interval or band. Light curves can be periodic, as in the case of eclipsing binaries, Cepheid variabl...
