@NefariousAryq The way they display on the first image is due to two different things from what I recall:
- You're reading from a recent version of Mastodon (can't find the exact version right now, sorry)
- The hashtags must be written at the end of the message, separated from the rest by a blank line.

@forteller @chrismessina it’s a nice idea but in terms of formatting my preference would be a # at the end #LikeThis# (rather than using two different characters) or double-up ##hashtag

@hexwren how does it break them? I've heard this said a lot but I haven't heard any explanations of concrete failure modes based on what screen readers actually do (e.g. when talking about hashtags i saw people who actually use readers talking about the difference between #likethis vs #LikeThis)

So things that are tagged #likeThis wind up in the same hashtag search as things tagged #likethis ?

(Obviously this post will show up in the same search because I tagged both things, but you know what I'm asking)

1. Hastags are queen here. Search for your interests using them. Use them yourself with abandon. You can follow hashtags like you would a person's account.

2. Make an #intro post. Include your interests. Remember step 1.

3. Finer points. Always add descriptive Alt Text to your images. When using hashtags remember to capitalise words for screenreaders #LikeThis.

4. There are lots of helpful people here. Reach out. Follow interesting or helpful accounts. Tailor your feed to you.
