Line is such a shitty app. Even trying to install it and create an account is an ad-ridden shitty experience. Why Japanese people are obsessed with it is beyond me.

(And how come my name is already taken as a username? Is it this Bollywood movie again?)

I'm only installing it because my daughter will get a smartphone soon and this is very likely the first app she'll install so I need to understand it and its pitfalls before she does.

But gosh does it suck.

It's another proof that popularity doesn't mean quality. I'm even tempted to say that these days, it's rarely the case.
