The first time I got to experience a full #MarkRothko exhibition, I genuinely wept. Also the 2d, and 3rd. The emotional intensity of his abstracts never fails to grip me, and I will always need a moment to collect myself afterward, and I will not really be interested in looking at anything else for a while.
And somehow, Dar Williams wrote a song about exactly that. This is "Mark Rothko Song." Here's my #coversong:

In der Rothko Chapel Chapel in Houston (Texas, USA) hÀngen 14 GemÀlde des US-amerikanischen Malers Mark Rothko. Sie zeigen allesamt unterschiedliche Schattierungen von Schwarz. WÀhrend er nie offenbarte, welche Bedeutung diese GemÀlde haben, bleibt ihre Wirkung auf viele, die sie betrachten, nicht aus.

Zu ihnen gehört auch Peter Gabriel, der sich inspirieren lies zu seinem Song "Fourteen Black Paintings".
