Back when I was using digital media I liked to have a go at master studies. This is one of the duchess of portland after Sargent. Not really suitable to be doing a study digitally of THE master of oils, but hey, it was fun! This is probably about 15 years old. #masterstudy #digitalart #throwback

My first Charles Bargue study. Was a fun experience for a first go. Getting the shading to look super smooth was an enjoyable if demanding challenge.

I've been really inspired by the art of @hizgi over on the other photo app and wanted to try a style study in my #sketchbook. The #lineart is me copying reference to learn to emulate line and shape language, and the colored image was my attempt at translation (original creation). I had a lot of fun with this attempt, and will probably keep experimenting in this vein. It speaks to me aesthetically right now

Color theory is fun, it’s amazing how much you can learn copying the masters… or at least guess / n00b hacks their effects 😅 Can’t wait to hang up my fake Sargent 🤪

My one regret is I chose a painting in private collection so I can’t study the work in depth 🙁
