I am ~~very much not an expert in EU law~~, and I suspect that different requirements will come into force for platforms of different sizes, but I still think that #MastoDev folks should get on with making limited scrolling (like "click to show more" every N posts) an available feature, maybe even a default. It compromises no ideal of value and further distinguishes fedi from the things that we *want* to distinguish fedi from.

I have a video file that when uploaded to Ten Forward results in a HTTP 422, and an error from Mastodon saying that a thumbnail cannot be generated.

The video vile is 18.9 MiB, 1m3s. MP4 container with the video format being

Format : AVC

and audio

Format: AAC LC

I cannot find any errors from ffmpeg related to this server side.

Anyone seen this before and know what is causing this issue?

First new release of hell for mastodon in two months is
out!

Not a lot of changes this time I've been working on other stuff but still some
good stuff!

- /search returns pages of status search results!
- /fetch returns a single status from a search, intended for loading remote
statuses by url
- /stats no longer crashes
- use ?poll="dogs,cats" status hint to create polls
- /cat displays client info if the status has one

question for people- for the accessible description of an emoji, would you expect it to say the skin tones?

for instance, "women holding hands" vs "women holding hands: light skin tone, medium-light skin tone"

personally the latter feels very verbose, but i'd love to get thoughts!

if a user on a non-masto server quotes a user on a masto server, does the latter person not receive a quote notification? i'm trying to add some more quote features for mastodon.el. i get a quote notif from a mastodon account, but not from one on non-masto server. it's a bit of a pity, surely people want to know if they've been quoted by some bully instance running different software?

the whole point of quote notifications is also to allow the user to revoke specific quotes.

EDIT: in the event, the non-notification pertained to an akkoma account quoting a mastodon account.
