Je viens de claquer 300 balles dans 32 Go de #ram DDR 4, parce que mon pc n'arrête pas de planter depuis plusieurs semaines et que #memtest me sort une palanquée d'erreurs.

Aux vues des prix d'il y a qqs années, ça aurait du être de l'ordre de 200 €.

J'ai renoncé à refaire ma config #pc parce que la DDR5 est elle à un prix extravagant : 32 Go c'est entre 500 et 1 000 BALLES.

Bit random but I'm glad memtest mentions in their FAQ that it runs in an endless loop and you can just quit after it shows the result in a big popup. Probably would have let it run endlessly otherwise in fear of borking the entire system somehow.

I went for the worst luck to the best luck. It has been a while since I saw a memtest fail report (at least 15 years) and my wallet started shivering. But luckily I checked the warranty and the memory DRAM is only 1 year old. Now let's see what says the shop.

He pasado de terrible mala suerte a super afortunado. Hacia tiempo que no veía un error en memtest (al menos 15 años) y mi cartera empezó a temblar. Pero menos mal que revisé la garantía y solo tiene 1 añito la memoria que falla. Ahora a ver que dice la tienda.

Still just as displeased as ever with my gifted fruitfone. Ridiculous PoS.

I take pics of my pooter monitor's still-running [>18 hrs now] #memtest, at various intervals, & discover later that more than half the bastards perversely are videos not pics. Ffs, bastard thing.

Ofc the bastard device has no standard USB port, so i cannot connect it to my pooter later [after the memtest is over & i've rebooted normally] to download these needed pics, so instead i gotta fart about with a bastard iBullshit account to upload them to fruit's rapacious claws, then access it on t'other pooter via browser to finally actually download them. PoS.

And peeps actually pay money, voluntarily, for these PoS? Astonishing. Bastard thing.

Memtest86 5.01 reporting loads of memory errors. Yay.

Hab' die letzte Woche ein wenig an meinem #pxe setup rumgebastelt. Das war nur für #mbr konfiguriert weil ich da ewig nichts dran gemacht hab. Hauptsache #memtest und recovery bootet 😃
Ich hatte gehofft dass ich #efi-variante nur 1:1 konfigurieren muss, aber die Transfers sind langsam und einiges funktioniert gar nicht obwohl es sollte. Aber jetzt habe ich mich halbwegs erfolgreich durch ein paar Anleitungen und die Doku von #ipxe gekämpft 🥊 und das sieht sehr vielversprechend aus. Memtest und recovery starten schonmal :heartSparkleCyberBlue:

Well this is encouraging when you want to run a memtest. Funnily I only noticed it later on, after starting the test via IPMI which is displaying just fine.

Years ago, I was frustrated by Memtest86+ 5 so I collected all of the pending patches for 4 and compiled them into Memtest86+ 4.21 along with rethemed colors that make #memtest easier to see if the test completed from far away in my opinion. I realized today that I never published the binaries and they are hard to compile with new systems since Ubuntu 14.04 so I made a release. https://github.com/TechnologyClassroom/memtest/releases/tag/4.21
