சோவியத் யூனியன் உடைந்தபோது அதன் ஒரு  அணு ஆயுத உலையும் ஏராளமான அணு குண்டுகளும் உக்ரைனில் தங்கி விட்டன. அப்போது அணு ஆயுதங்கள் வைத்திருந்த நாடுகளில் உக்ரைன் மூன்றாம் இடம். ஆனால் அவற்றை கொண்டு போய் வீசுவதற்கான ஏவுகணைகளோ விமானங்களோ அதனிடம் இல்லை. அவற்றை வைத்துக் கொண்டு ஒன்றும் செய்திருக்க முடியாது.

அந்த அணு ஆயுதங்கள் வேறு தேசங்களுக்கு போகும் வாய்ப்பு இருக்கிறது. எனவே அணு ஆயுதங்களைக் கட்டுப்படுத்தும் நோக்கத்தில் நாட்டாமை தேசங்களான அமெரிக்கா, இங்கிலாந்து, ரஷ்யா இந்த மூன்றும் அதனுடன் ஒரு பாதுகாப்பு ஒப்பந்தம் செய்து கொண்டன, 1994ஆம் ஆண்டு. உக்ரைன் எல்லைகளுக்கு ஒரு ஆபத்து வராமல் நாங்கள் பார்த்துக் கொள்கிறோம் என்று.

இது வெறும் ஒப்பந்தம்தான். ஆனால் உக்ரைனிய மொழியிலும் ரஷ்ய மொழியிலும் இது வாக்குறுதியாக (agreement/ guarantee) மொழிபெயர்க்கப்பட்டது. உக்ரைனும் தன் ஆயுதங்களை கொடுத்து விட்டது.

உக்ரைனின் ஒரு பகுதியில் ரஷ்ய மொழி பேசுபவர்கள் பெரும்பான்மை. அவர்கள் உரிமைகளைக் காப்பாற்ற ரஷ்யா உக்ரைனுள் புகுந்தது. போர். இந்த மாதிரி நடக்கும்போது எப்படி வேறுபாடுகளைத் தீர்த்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்று 1994 ஒப்பந்தத்தில் உள்ளபடி உக்ரைன் ஒரு சந்திப்பைக் கோரியது. புதினின் ரஷ்யா வர மறுத்து விட்டது. ஒப்பந்தத்தில் கையெழுத்திட்ட அரசு வேறு, நாங்கள் வேறு. அதன் பின் உக்ரைன் நேட்டோ உதவி கேட்டது (பாதுகாப்பு ஒப்பந்தத்தில் அமெரிக்கா பிரிட்டன் இரண்டும் ஒப்பமிட்டிருக்கின்றன).

நேட்டோ கிழக்கு ஐரோப்பாவினுள் ஒரு இஞ்சுகூட விரிவடையாது என்ற வாய்மொழி ஒப்பந்தத்தை மீறி  உக்ரைனுக்குள் வரப் பார்க்கிறது, நேட்டோ தூண்டுதலால் உக்ரைன் சண்டை போடுகிறது, ஜெலன்ஸ்கியின் ஆணவத்தால் அப்பாவி உக்ரைனியர்கள் சாகிறார்கள், புதின் செய்தது தப்புதான் என்றாலும் அதற்கு காரணம் மேலை நாடுகளின் சதிக்கு உக்ரைன் பலியானது என்றெல்லாம் திரும்பத் திரும்பச் சொல்கிறார் நண்பர்.

நேற்று வேறு ஏதோ பேசும்போது சம்பந்தமில்லாமல் இதைச் சொன்னபோது ஆட்டோவில் போய்க் கொண்டிருந்தேன். படித்ததும் கோபத்தில் உடம்பே நடுங்க ஆரம்பித்து விட்டது. கொஞ்ச நேரத்துக்குப் பின் கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியாமல், “மீண்டும் மீண்டும் இதையே சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருப்பது முழு மூடத்தனமாக இருக்கிறது,” என்று பதில் போட்டேன்.

ஏதோ குட் மார்னிங் குட் நைட் மெசேஜ் அனுப்புவதற்குதான் வாட்ஸ்அப் எல்லாம் சரி. இணையத்தில் எத்தனையோ இடத்தில் நாம் எழுத முடியும். ஏன் இப்படி தனி உரையாடல்களில் பிடிக்காத விஷயங்களை வலுக்கட்டாயமாக பேசி நிம்மதியைக் கெடுத்துக் கொள்கிறோம் என்று தெரியவில்லை. ஒருத்தர் அநீதியை நியாயப்படுத்துவதே சகித்துக் கொள்ள முடியாமல் இருக்கிறது, அதையும் தன் கருணையின் பெயராலும் தன் அற உணர்வின் பெயராலும்  செய்யும்போது சுத்தமாக மரியாதையே போய் விடுகிறது.

"Why don't they listen to me, those horrible terrible poopy heads who don't like it when I call them dumb and stupid and selfish and... See? They're assholes, they use bad deodorant, they probably don't drink water through paper straws, they should all go to hell, and why don't they listen to me?"
