So, I'm planning to put out feelers for a #Chroniclesofdarkness #oneshot and I have questions about how to do this.

1: Am I supposed to have #pregenerated #playercharacters? And if I do, how important is it that they're #Optimized?

2: If the players I get want to make their own characters, how much time am I expected to take?

I'll post more questions as I come up with them.

If anyone here plays either Over The Edge, or Unknown Armies, can you please tell me if the characters below, made in heroforge, would be or would not be typical player #characters (or npcs).

I'm reading the third edtion of OTE but currently lack any edition of UA. My knowledge of UA is second hand and I'm wondering if these seem like typical #occultists in the setting.

A skinny, white man is standing on a brown cobblestone road. He has messy, long brown hair, slightly larger than average eyes, and much larger than average nose. There is a bruise under his right eye and a nosebleed coming from his left nostril.

He is dressed in a dark grey pinstriped suit. The jacket is open, revealing several dried blood stains on his light blue shirt. The man is holding a red and brown leather duffle bag in his left hand and wearing copper knuckle dusters on his right.

A young, white woman is standing on a red brick surface. She is dressed in a punk style with a red leather vest, and has a short, dark blue Mohawk for hair. She has a worried expression, with a raised right eyebrow, and her eyes pointing to her right.

Behind the woman is a glowing green spirit. The spirit looks like a skeleton wearing a strange robe and a necklace with three small skulls. He has large, bright green orbs filling up the eye sockets, skeletal wings sticking out from his back, and insectoid antenna on the forehead. The spirit has his bony hands on the woman's shoulders, and is looking as if he is whispering something into her right ear.

A dishevelled old man is standing behind a gravestone. He has long, grey hair and a very long and dirty grey beard, but no moustache. On his forehead is a jagged, X shaped scar. He wears an open black trench-coat, jeans, and black boots. The old man is raising his right arm and screaming something in an angry expression.

In front of the tomb stone, three damaged and decomposing arms are rising out of the dirt...

A white woman of indeterminate age stands on a lush red carpet. She is wearing a black leather body suit and mask with cat shaped ears on top. Her mouth and chin are exposed, revealing a smirking expression. She holds a rose in her left hand and her right hand is resting on the left shoulder of a young, white man kneeling next to her.

The man has brown-black hair slicked backwards, and a lean, but muscular body. He is wearing dark brown leather sandals and gauntlets, and a light blue pair of briefs. He kneels with his torso upright but his head bent downwards, and his arms at his sides.

Personal experience; I have put TOO MANY hours in #DragonsDogma2, with two #Arisen (#PlayerCharacters) and I encountered #Dragonsplague ONCE.

Dismissing the #Pawn with Dragonsplague before leaving #TheRift seemed to take care of it before it was a problem.

What made #DnD5E great was simplification. What is killing #DnD5E is increasing complexity.

Good #RPG game design is fundamentally incompatible with the #neoliberal #neofeudal quest for #monopoly revenues and profits derived from #ownership of intellectual #property.

The #TTRPG industry is primarily a cottage industry precisely because a good game depends on a #ruleset which doesn't impede the #storylives of the #PlayerCharacters.

Cancerous #growth makes bad #gaming.

#Clementia Chrace is a Reiklander #Charlatan. Yes, charlatan is listed as an job in #WHFR; in fact #jobs have levels with different names in this game, and her starting level is #Swindler.

Of the four latest #Playercharacters I #rolledup, three of them are #Humans), one is a #Bailiff, the third was a #Lawyer, and the second was this one.

If I didn't know better I'd think this was all #serendipitous...

Picture extradimensional explorer aliens, travelling through the multiverse, classifying universes as essentialist or existentialist.

Then they stumble across your average #ADnD universe, where 99.99% of existence is essentialist (at the crudest level, monster behavior controlled by inborn alignment), but a few lifeforms aren't -- they have more free will, and existence determines their essence (alignment).

That's right, #PlayerCharacters are existentialist entities in essentialist universes!

Which #dnd5e #book had all the options for making #playercharacters of all the #races, #mosterraces included?

I thought it was #TashasCauldronofEverything but I just bought it and I don't see it.

Literally the first object I made in Blender just by extruding and moving around vertices. It's basically a box, but! This could, with a bit more detail, look good as a 3D-print? Still very work in progress!
