#prusafilament

Received my first spools of 3D printer filament! I couldn't decide what colour I needed first so I got a few of my favourites.

The filament came in vacuum bags inside boxes, which I thought was weird. I figured there had to be a business reason for the vacuum bags since they'd add extra materials and manufacturing cost. Definitely had to look up the reasoning. That's when I learned that filament can absorb humidity from the air and become 'too wet'.

I know many makers store their filament on an open air rack, so moisture/dust probably isn't too much of an issue for most folks, but my (current) 3D printing space is just off of my bathroom and I like long, hot showers. I'll have to rethink my space a bit. For now, the filament will remain in the vacuum bags until they are used to print, and I'll buy an air tight box (with some desiccant) to store the spools in once they've been opened.
